Check-in and baggage rules at Haneda Airport
There is no single check-in deadline or baggage allowance for every flight at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND). Requirements depend on the operating airline, route, ticket type and destination. Use your airline’s current instructions as the authority for your journey.
Check-in and bag drop
- Confirm the terminal and check-in counter with the operating airline.
- Check when counters open and close, and when boarding gates close.
- Online check-in may be available, but document checks or baggage drop may still require a counter visit.
- For codeshare flights, follow the check-in instructions of the airline operating the flight.
Cabin and checked baggage
Before packing, verify cabin-bag dimensions, weight, personal-item limits, checked-baggage allowance and excess-baggage fees with your airline. Rules can differ between fare types even on the same route.
Restricted and special items
Restrictions may apply to lithium batteries, power banks, liquids, aerosols, medicines, sports equipment and other special items. Check your airline’s rules and Japan’s current aviation-security requirements before packing. Do not rely on a generic baggage list for a specific itinerary.
If baggage is delayed or damaged
Report the problem to your airline or its handling representative as soon as possible, ideally before leaving the airport. Keep your baggage tag, boarding pass and claim reference. For official airport passenger information, visit Haneda Airport.
